Is Microsoft Actively Making It Difficult To Install Torrenting Software?

Hi fellow computer people!

Perhaps I'm being a little cynical but recently I naively clicked on something at the recommendation of Windows security and my Bittorrent app stopped working. I uninstalled it and downloaded a fresh new copy of the installation program from Bittorrent. Then when I execute the Bittorrent.exe, I get the message as pictured. I tried temporarily placing it in my Documents folder in case it genuinely was a permissions issue but same message. I checked in its properties and I do have full access to everything. It's very puzzling. Does anyone have any ideas? Has this happened to you?

Are you currently trying to install Bittorrent?

press Windows key + I to open Settings then
> Update & Security > Windows Security
> Virus & threat protection

Is Bittorrent listed/detected in Current threats as PUA:Win32/bTorrent or similar?
If so, right click on the listing and Allow on device then scroll down and click on Start actions.

Yeah ..... good point!

 

Did notice torrent issues with Windows 10 too.

Always upload files to VirusTotal for a check but even then... Windows seems to buck at any regular (popular) torrent app.
