    hi people,
heres a problem, pls help me to solve it !!!
Ok, here it goes.......a few days back, i turned on my computer, and found that it had no internet connection. So, i thought it might be some loose wires. I unplugged the wire, and then plugged it back in, ....after repeated procedure, the connection finally comes back.
So, i go on to check my IP, surprisngly, it changed to a different one. And so, the problem starts from here.
I've been using Zone Alarm as my firewall. Before, when i had the old IP, my "blocked intrusion" was only 4. ( thats the no. of intrusion my firewall has blocked )....But, since i got the new IP, my firewall has blocked more than 200 intrusions in just a matter of days. Now, this is something which is not normal. Im really concerned as to what this means.

    Heres a few example :

"ZoneAlarm blocked access to port 1433 on your computer

No breach in your security has occurred. Your computer is safe.
    Details

Port 1433 is used by Microsoft SQL server. Vulnerabilities associated with SQL server have been published on the Internet, and at least one worm (SQLSnake) targeting port 1433 has been released. When attention is drawn to a potential target in this way, it tends to increase the number of scans computer users receive on the port involved."

This one seems to be from my ISP :

" ZoneAlarm has blocked access to port 1027 on your computer

ZoneAlarm has successfully stopped local network or Internet traffic from reaching your computer. No breach in your security has occurred. Your computer is safe.

    Details

The most common cause of this alert is that ZoneAlarm may not be configured properly to allow traffic through the firewall. Please refer to the help files for information on configuring programs to function correctly with ZoneAlarm. Possible explanations for the alert include:

The communication may have been a legitimate attempt by your ISP, a mail server, or another service attempting to authenticate your IP address or host name.
The ZoneAlarm Internet Lock may be engaged
There may be excessive network congestion or other network problems that prevent information from being transmitted completely and correctly "

Sorry, if the message is too long. I just wanna know what this is all about. Is my ISP spying on me ??? Or r they trying to communicate or something ??
PS : Im on a broadband connection !!!

They do not need to check on you every thing that do on the Internet is through their server to begin with.

What you see in the Firewall is regular Internet Noise (very typical to Cable service).

Get your self a Cable/DSLRouter and it can be blocked before it gets to your computer.

Dude !!! I got an Ethernet Router. And ZoneAlarm seems to be doing its job well by blocking these connections. But Im just curious as to, why there so many intrusions all of a sudden. Im worried that it might be some hackign process going on or what not.
Cos i can be very skeptical in these cases. My mind fears that the worse could happen. So, i wanna be sure if im really out of hacker's reach.
BTW, what r port scans ??? Got a lot of that happening as well. Kindly help !!!
