hi, my PC has been infected with the Office Poltergeist trojan for the past couple of days. I've downloaded some freeware which seems to have removed it. I was just wondering how dangerous this programme is? I've googled it and it seems to be prank software but was wondering if that is actually the case? Would welcome your advice please.

I haven't used it but I don't believe it's dangerous simply because it doesn't allow remote users to read data or execute commands. It is in fact used to play jokes on friends or whoever.

To rid yourself of it, search for and delete the files below.

    • opcontrol.exe
    • opserver.exe
    • mem86control.exe
