Is there a way to tell if a firewall is active?

I was wondering, in a local area network with a router (any type that connects to the internet and shares across the network), is there a way to tell or a software that can detect the presence of a firewall active somewhere?

I'm asking this because firewalls are everywhere these days. It could be integrated into your antivirus software, it's built into WinXP, it comes pre-enabled with your router and it installs itself with the new system maintenance utility you just downloaded without your knowledge. I just need a way to ensure that ALL active firewalls are turned off.

    Thanks.

Shields Up should tell you. If it is all green it is good.

    Just tested the link. Ahhhhhhhhh

You'll have to go to the home page & follow the link to the Shields Up page from there.

If it's a router and it says it came with a firewall it should need no manual configuration... You can check the routers homepage though...

For shields up... Just say no

Thanks guys, but actually, security is not a concern here. I have a situation where I need to make sure nothing's hampering with incoming traffic, hence all the firewalls need to be OFF.

According to my friend, the router's firewall has already been disabled in its homepage, as well as XP's built-in firewall. But there could be others hidden somewhere, maybe in one of the services or something. Is there a way to find out?
