Is there any software???

Is there any software that can help me? My kid is getting on the internet without permission. I have DSL so its always connected. I want something that to access internet you have to inter a password or something to lock all internet when she is not allowed to be on it.

 

I've heard of (though not tried - my kids are grown) a program called Net Nanny. I think it's also possible to program your router to disable the connection during certain times.

 

Why not simply create an account login and password. Then log out when you don't want her on line?

 

I was also going to suggest creating 2 user accounts; your account would have full admin priveleges with web access and everything, and the acct would be password protected (use a GOOD password... NOT your birthday or your dog's name or some such nonsense). Then set up a 2nd acct for the kids with limited priveleges; like no web access for example. That way they can still use the PC for homework or playing games, but cannot surf. Or, you can do as suggested above and take the DSL gear with you when you can't keep an eye on the PC....
