Is there Software to validate Windows XP

I was wondering if there was some software or a process to check Windows XP for bad dll's and reinstall them easily? I know you can expand a dll one at a time but is there some utility that can take the guts of XP and check them and repair them if they are not the most current.

Update seems ok with where it is but I run into random errors and if possible want to prevent a total wipe and reinstall of all my software. I have done abunch of the checks and the system seems clean of malware, viruses and such. I just want to validate the OS without doing a reinstall.

Sfc /scannow does what you request.


Do it froma cmd.exe prompt. It will need the CD, too.


Microsoft Baseline Security tool checks to make sure you have all security updates.
