If not, there should be. I went on a little trip to clear my head on Saturday, here are some of the highlights from my Facebook album.

I may have security set so that it can't be viewed, let me know if that's the case, and I'll change it to something more accepting of visitors. :-D

    Hey Pax

Great shots. The one you have in this thread is very beautiful. Is that natural through the camera or post edited? The color is great.

We just got back from Costa rica last night. I got a few decent shots. I'll post them when I get a chance (and am more awake :-D). I'm all for a photography thread.

chapincito, I've been to the Canadian side more times than I can count, just not since they require you have a passport to get across. This winter I hope to get one though, as it's time much better spent, being able to get into Canada. Thanks everyone, for the Praise, and Laura, I can't wait to see your pictures. I'm not bitter at all LOL

Dr. M I shot them with a DSLR, if you want a full size picture, and can suggest a way to get it to you, I'd bet it would look better.

Nice pics Paxton, first time I've seen really good pics of the Falls from the US side.

So are you a bit of a photography nut? If so I'm looking to buy a new camera after xmas, I have a good eye for a good picture but lack the hardware to really get "That shot", in other words my camera is a POS lol

The camera I was looking at is either the Sony A230 or A330 , both come with 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses and both around the $4-500 mark.
If anyone reading this thread knows about cameras, some info would be muchly apreciated.

I just want a good camera that will take good clear pics in various conditions and a good capability of zoom while maintaining clarity.
I will learn all the options once I have it, but a good all round cam that will take good pics on Auto and awesome pics if manual settings are right.

Check out the camera I have, the Canon EOS Rebel XS, and I believe LauraR has got the Nikon D3000 if I remember right. They're just about equal, but if you can get your hands on them somewhere to play with, I think you'll like a camera from a camera company more, for the $50 extra, they run about $549 each, and they've got street cred. I have decade old lenses on my DSLR, and I love each of them. (I grew up on a 35mm Rebel)

Will look into them, thanks Paxton :)

The only real reason I looked at the Sony ones were because they are DSLR's at a price I can manage and I have always trusted Sony but will continue my research with this new info, thanks man :)

I can get on board with that Nedlamar. My first digital was the Sony DSC-F717 and from there I moved into the Sony DSC-H2 that was still performing well when I gave it away and moved into the DSLR realm.

Sony does have good cameras, and I didn't mean to shoot you down if that's how it came across. But I think you buy a DSLR for a long term camera, and to me that means going with someone who's been around, and will be around for some time. I did look a bit at the Sony DSLR's, but I don't remember any of the specs. I can tell you that with the correct memory card, I can shoot something like 3 pictures a second for 500 pictures, before the camera needs to breathe.

If you're doing your homework, you'll be happy with whatever you decide to buy. But sometimes, this Canon I shoot, catches even me off guard with what it captures.

Ned- any entry level DSLR should serve one's purpose. The functions can be complicated or simple, yes these can be used as a point and shoot.
Bracketed exposure +tive or -tive, same with flash compensation are all available.
Don't get into MP's and sensor size, low light/high ISO rendition, and noise caused, if you do- then there is no limit to the budget.
    Cheers...

Yours, Phantom? Jeez, that's good. Amazing how clear the focus on the moon and the foreground.

Nah, I don't lay the claim to that one, but it is a great photo of a place I've been to. Like ya said, I couldn't get the moon quite that clear, unless I was real lucky. I have some nice ones of the Pinnacles themselves around somewhere.

I've got the moon clear with my 300mm, but that must have been a merge of at least a couple photos I would think.

    I'm a huge moon fan.

Are you kidding? I think that's part of the reason why I love photography so much. First you have your camera body with all it's settings for exposure, shutter speed, aperture. Then you've got hundreds of types of lens to spend money on. Then you have your speedlight, which you can set up wirelessly!LOL Then there is my favorite part....Photoshop, with all it's wonderful things you can do to the shots once you take them...on your computer!

It's geek heaven in art. :-D

I don't mean to make this sound like it fits here, but it's a photograph, and it really was worth about 1,000 words. Nearly all of them toward me in a friendly negative fashion, haha.

So the other night there was a "blue moon" which if you don't know is the second full moon in a month, or (I believe) the 13th in a calendar year. Well, over on my facebook page, I mentioned a blue moon a few times that night, and suggested that people "go outside and check it out!" A good friend of mine texts me and she tells me, "Um, the moon isn't blue here" (She lives about 10 miles away from me) and I'm in my car at the time, about to run into town, so I snap this picture with my cell phone (pardon the quality) and promptly sent it to her. That was the last time I heard from her that night. I went to see a movie, and it was too late to tell her that I faked the picture by taking it through the tint on the top of my windshield.

I revealed the prank on my facebook page that night, posting the picture, and admitting that I faked it just to mess with this friend of mine.

Turns out, she sent it to dozens of people, coolest thing she'd ever seen, blah blah. LOL I've been hearing about it from all kinds of people ever since.

    Best. Prank. Ever. :-D
