Is this a good video card???

Hi, my computer was recently fixed from a display driver problem. The person who fixed it put in a driver called: ATI 3D Rage II PCI.

How many MB's of video RAM is this, and does it support OpenGL

Its got 4MB of ram and doesnt support OpenGL to my knowledge. Its a VERY old card that is no longer availible for purchase. What kind of computer do you have?

 

Intel pentium III, 128mb ram, 866 mhz

may I ask is there a certain game you wanted to play,or just checking whether the guy had fleeced you?,may I also ask how much you payed for the upgrade?,feel free not to answer

 

You could get a Radeon 9600se 128mb directx 9 compliant card
for under 60 bucks from Newegg that would work
perfectly on an 866 PIII

 

BAH old my lappy has a rage pro 4MB it will play openGL and D3D apps fine id reccomend running win 98 for games thow xp dosent like tha card to well........( I dual booted my system 98 for games and xp for surfing ) I can play HL1 at ~ 45 FPS ( at 640 x 480 ) and doom legacy runs great at full triliner filtering....at 65FPS......i cant play games in XP has something to do with the drivers..I have an OCing tool for it too....look here for good drivers.....

 

When i run HL1 my CPU is holding me back not my 4 MB rage pro....( P3 650 @500Mhz )....id get more ram thow...atleast 256....
Common guys ya judge the poor card just cas it only has 4MB it even has antialiasing

 

I just hope that Counter-Strike will work smoothly on this old video card...

It wasent an upgrade...My computers display driver broke, and had to be replaced. So the tech guy put in a cheep card for free.

 

It should be playable at 640 x 480 prolly ~30FPS ( you can DL the rage pro OCer and get ~ 45 ) that is counter strike not counter strike source the card is suprisingly fast for a 4MB ( mine when OCed is on par with my old voodoo rush )Just use the J series drivers thay are realy smooth it runs at ~ 45FPs in HL for me but it feels more like 60 .....

 

I've never recommended SE range cards because they're just bad!

well the main problem with the rage pro is poor drivers........the hardware is surprisingly capable..

 

It is capable, but theres no support for it.... I ran one in my Apple... that i scrapped , i might still have the vid card though.
