Do you have or can you borrow another PSU?

WELL, let's add insult to injury!!!!
I tried to see if the memory was bad in the old mobo. so i turned off my personal built computer, put the memory in to test it and it blew my motherboard!!!!!! THIS SUCKS!! now i have to see if i can find another motherboard for me to keep all of my info for the primary HDD. unless anyone else has any ideas?!
the mobo popped when i turned it on and found a little browned mark on one of the ?????? resistors, transistors. whatever looks like a little battery up on end. now i get no beeps on my computer and no video.
so now i am square -1, 2 bad mobos !
WHAT A GREAT NIGHT I AM HAVING !

ok i am done venting for a bit!

Sorry about your troubles. Could be a bad capacitor, or problems with the PSU that fried said capacitor. Sorry I could not help diagnose the problem faster. Hopefully the CPU and other components are ok.

if i get a new motherboard, can i retrieve my "stuff" from the primary hdd? without reformatting it and using recovery software?

Well, if you get the exact motherboard, and your PSU is not going crazy, it should boot right up. Otherwise, you can connect your hard drive up to another PC via USB adapters or hook it up as a slave drive, and as long as the drive is working, you can transfer your data. Programs, well they may not transfer without some work, but basic data is easy.

no too worried about programs. just the pics and txt documents. i have most programs on other hdds.
just to put this out. If anybody comes across a gigabyte mobo "ga-8vt800" for sale, PLEASE give me the location.

now back to the problems at hand. i get no beeps from my computer either now, but i also get no video. so my mobo is probably done.
the other computer still gives me video image. i am guessing that the problems are one in the same and both have mobo problems.

it looks like a am just going to change mobo on my personal since i can't find the 1 i am looking for.
i think, also, that the same sort of thing happened to the board i have been working on, so i tlooks as though i will be getting a nother mobo for his also. is there a way of testing ram other than going to a pro. there is a guy that goes to the computer show around my way that has a ram tester.
