    Hi Guys!
    Great site by the way!..

Anyway - I have somehow gotten the Conta Virus thing on my PC - so I started the right way anddid what you suggested first concerning the malware in general.
( I had to find a free trial site for the counterspy by the way - the link provided didnt seem to have free version, but maybe its me..)
So - i am planning to start this long procedure tommorrow, and in the meantime, i had written to these lovely (uh huh) inventors of this "Contra" scam and told them what I thought about them.

They in turn, emailed back the following:

You can save the file enclosed on your hard-drive, un-rar and run the
regfix.reg file, then restart your computer. This will get rid of the unwanted
    activities on your computer completely.

If you do not have the RAR software, you can download and install its free
version from http://www.rarlab.com/ , and unpack the enclosed file using this
    program.

    ContraVirusPro.

So - fully trusting in the Geeks, i have attached the thing and ask your opinion
    please - is it true?
    Is it safe?

If so - how do i use it?!!

    Thanks for your help :cool

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The link works just fine and is for the trial version. Several dozen people use it everyday.

You did not attach anything for us to review.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my post.

I have very litttle experience with posting, and am still trying to get the hang of it.

What they sent is a file named REGFIX.RAR (1kb)
They also said i may need to download the rar unpacking ( if that is the correct way to say it?!) if i do not have it.
    I do not.
I So , I guess my basic questions is this.

As C Cleaner will not remove it, and I have followed all of your suggested steps , and it is still there,
is this simply a more in depth kind of regcleaner?

If so - I ceratinly dont want to mess anything else up.

I will work through your steps again, and see if it is still there.
If so - i will try to send the logs, however,
I see that my "attachment" abilities will need more practice!

    Thanks for your patience.....

    Deborah

If you want us to look at the file. You need to attach it here for us to look at. See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

I have no idea what you are talking about. No one said CCleaner will remove it. And no registry cleaner is going to fix it either. A registry cleaner is not a malware scanning/removal tool.

You did not follow the instructions. If you want help, you must run ALL of the READ & RUN ME sticky and attach the requested logs (there are 6 logs requested.
