Is This Power Supply Sufficent For An 8800GT?

I am in the process of ordering parts for a new AMD dual core 5600 setup. The PSU I ordered is rated at 680 watts. The 12V amp rating is 22. From what I understand the 8800 can be finicky about the power supply. The exact specs escape me right now, but my current PSU is lesser spec than the one on order and does fine with my current rig with the 8800 installed. Here is the PSU:

    Any input?

    Thanks.

I've used many PSU's like that one, but just the price will tell you that's a low end product. I think I'd ramp up a step or two for the system you are proposing to build.

Maybe a 750w supply would better suit your needs.
Probably the worse thing you could do, building a new system, is install a PSU that's too small.

I'm getting along nicely with a 480w Dual Fan PSU, but I'll soon be adding a third HD for a backup drive. Before doing that, I'll upgrade my PSU to a 750w unit.

You can never have too much power, but you sure as heck can have too little.:cry

Don't buy it. It's a cheap no-name brand PSU and it won't provide stable & efficient power. Your not going to find a decent PSU for that price.

I would look for a name brand PSU like Corsair, Antec, Thermaltake, Coolmaster etc...

I would suggest something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182030

Others to choose from here: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=58&name=Power-Supplies

Don't be fooled by the stated wattage - a 450w Antec or other quality psu will provide much better and more stable power than a cheap 650w one.

I currently have a Rosewill. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I know a cheaper power supply might not be of comparable quality to other brands, but I just decided to go ahead and select the said power supply with the bundle to save some money. My instincts tell me it should be enough. If not, I just might score another Rosewill.
