Is this Recycle Bin view normal?

The attached image is from my mother's PC (Windows 7 Home Premium). The left column looks similar to a Windows Explorer window. I don't recall seeing this on my system at home; if the Recycle Bin is empty, then its window should simply be blank. Am I right? A screen capture is attached.

I don't have Windows 7 anymore, but doing a quick google image search says that is normal.

I just fired up an empty recycle bin in Win 7 Home premium and it looks like your image.

If 7 is like 8, you have options for how the folder view looks.

Thanks for the replies. I should have waited until I got home and opened Recycle Bin on my Win 7 system. Then, I would have immediately recognized that the file structure tree in the left column is normal. I guess I was having a mental throwback to an earlier version of Windows.
