Is Trusteer Rapport OK? Stable? Bug-free?

ON a previous system which I have maintained, there seemed to be a cause/effect relation between some crashes and the prior installation of the Rapport security layers that some financial institutions endorse & recommend. I removed it all from the system, and those issues did not recur.

I'm now working on another sys: HP/Cpq Evo 510 with XP SP3, in reasonably good shape despite a lot of applications and a long history of usage, and it recently had the Trusteer Rapport modules installed on it. Its unnaturally slow to boot, especially from 'login' to "ready to do useful work", and I have cleaned up everything that is 'normal' with just a little effect. I stopped unnecessary processes, updaters, applets, helpers, removed toolbars, etc. The only thing I remain suspicious of is the Rapport hairball.

Is your experience with this package ok, or is it problematic?

 

I've been using it in a Win 7 x64 system for a while now and the only problem I have noticed is that the Trusteer icon does not show in Chrome 13 but does in other browsers. The system still boots to a working desktop in just a shade over a minute, as it always has done.

 

good to hear. I had noticed that it does not create any cpu overhead that I can discern. I see reports around the websphere blaming it for various ills, but dunno the credibility of such. some worry about what its actually DOING... intercepting keystrokes?, capturing data?
