Got some best buy reward certs to burn. Was considering this game. Coworker says its pretty cool but I dunno. I see him walking around and talking to people and thats about it. Is there bloodshed in this game?

anyone here own it and can provide some insight? Thanks.

Great game, gets boring at level 40 because all thats left is PVP and grinding places to find end game items. This point requires a lot more team based play and grinding. If your an MMORPG player, cant believe you wouldnt like it. Reading the profession and calls faqs at their website or having a friend assist will help you get your character right the first time. If you join and need a guild, let me know, ill hok you up with ours, helpful bunch.

Thanks Tim. I was looking for something that I could play at lunchtime ;) and occasionally at night. Getting tired of the shootem up games. Other guys in the office really like this game but they don't have it here at the moment. Not sure about the monthly fee either but we'll see.

Great game; but its way too easy and fast to get to the level cap (60). Beyond Lv50 the only thing I was doing is grinding away instances for items; along with 3-4 other people that wanted the same item as me, really sucked. Although I quit two months ago I might go back as I've been told new pvp patch/rewards has been implemented. Also I got bored way to fast with this game because i was in Closed Beta since July~ of last year so I had a much longer track record then most players.

what character did you guys choose when starting the game and why?

Im at home sick today and probably the next few days with asthma/cold/allergies. I keep reading about the game and may pick it up this afternoon.

I started off in closed beta as an Orc shamman (a hybrid caster/fighter); eventually making also made a Warrior, Rogue, and Paladin (hybrid caster/fighter). I LOVED my shamman; healing, nuking, buffing and melee combat was a blast. The warriors have been nerfed all the way back since beta so I wouldn't recommend it. Rogue is for soloers and it is hard to find pick up groups that want a rogue in it. I highly enjoyed paladins also; untill they got severly handicapped it felt like i was playing warriors again.

You might like Guildwars, comes out on the 27th if you pre order, or 28th to the world.
its a great PvP game, that you have to always be thinking of new ways to build your hero
its free everymounth.. and the map is bigger then the world of war craft :) .. but WoW is a really cool game.. its nice eye candy..

guildwars.. things that you can expect... exp packs to the game.. a really fun PvE world that is huge",!!!PvP!!!".. if you like fightingand really seein what your doing... seein the blood hit the ground.. umm yea i could sit here for awhile and talk about this game so i'll shut up now.. but its really about missions... so YES you do have to grind to get thigns most of the time... but its missions.. so its not all grind :) fun fun.. and so many things you can change and do to your hero durin this game its crazy

Map isnt bigger then WoW. all zones are instanced so effectivly, your unable to see ur budy untill he is out of that place and the next area he visits you have acess to. A mission consists of grinding through an area and then defend X dude or take him somewhere. Im not saying the game is bad im saying you cant compare the games.

I'm sorry but Everquest all the day. Don't play anymore, thought it was more painful to kick that habit than any other, but it was such a better game from what I have experienced and heard. WoW seems to be built for people who just want to goof off and be rewarded. It doesn't seem difficult at all to level or get cash. However, I'm weird, I like a serious challenge in a game and not just piddling around.

WoW is good, but my friend and I played it and went right back to FFXI. FFXI is such a massive game and takes a lot of effort to wear it all out, there is usually something new or something to do. I liked WoW because It was fun to play, Like COH. But they both lvl cap pretty quick.

I played FFXI for 3-5months or so; Its not a game for anyone. 95% of the game is about grinding the same bunny every ten levels; travel for hour+ at a time, be on "time" to catch the boats, and camp notorious monsters and hope it drops a super expensive item. Not to mention spend (what takes you months at a time to collect) millions in a single spell. Also the sometimes ugly task of joining a random group and then die and lose a ton of your level. Or even going in with a group of 40 people; kill a boss for 8hrs and one person advances to the next area.

During my time there I had a paladin/warrior/monk/ranger/ninja/(that class that was equally as hard to get as the ninja). My pld was 45 warrior 40 monk 35 ranger 23 ninja 21 that other class 12...

I dont have many real positive memories other then the chocobo/and the song riding, My first MMO experiances and being n00b/lost, the weather system, collecting some phat NM loot and soap opera drama from the link shells.

I'm gonna have to agree with Omega on FFXI... I played it for a little on the PC and gave up. Not only did I get bored quickly but it just isn't tailored for the PC, felt more like a console game, if you understand my strangeness.

FFXI is a good game. Different strokes, ya know.

I'm hooked on WoWE though. The game is what you make it. I duo with a druid (my wife) and we kick ass in PVP.

    We aren't even 60 yet.

Any mmorpg is infinitely more fun with a regular partner. I even play Guild Wars with my mother and we kick some serious ass.
