    Okay, so.

recently decided to build my own gaming pc for the first time

    parts:

Intel core i7 920 2.66ghz (stock heatsink + fan) i know, slap me.

    Asus P6t motherboard

    Corsair Xms3 Pc 12,800 1600 mhz 6gb ddr3 times 2

    WD 500gb caviar blue hd

    geforce gtx 250 1024 mb gddr3

    tower- Nzxt tempest atx midtower

    psu Corsair tx 750 watt

Put it all together to the best of my ability and I wanted to test the tower before I buttoned all the cables up and tied them etc.

turned power on.. all the case fans turned for like a second and then stopped and all was off but the motherboard light and onboard power switches...

Any clues to why this is or solutions.. :(

So the fans power on for a second and then turn off?

Possibly pull the motherboard out again and reseat it to ensure no "shorts" are occuring. While your doing this you will be unplugging everything and replugging which would be the next tip.

    I agree with Bold Eagle

It could also be a bad motherboard as it does happen.
