Issue(?)

Firstly let me apologize if this has already been covered. I searched, but couldn't this specific problem. Please direct me to the thread and solution is it is already out there. Thanks


Here's my problem:
I have Qwest DSL and my download speed has always been around 80 to 100 Kps

However, starting yesterday I noticed my DL speed was lagging, I looked at it and it tops out at 13 or 15 Kps. I

It's on any site, anything I download. Youtube, pdf files, mp3, whatever.

I went to dslreports.com and their tests said everything was fine, but it's not.

Any ideas what may be causing this problem?

Alright. Firstly, let me say thanks for the reply.

Secondly, I did do all the steps in the *Read & Run Me First* thread.


I found some DNSchanger Trojans, and some malware.
(I should state that this is isn't my PC, but my mother in law's)

But that didn't fix my slow downloading speed.


I called Qwest and spent an hour on the phone with them, and they did something.

That didn't fix my slow downloading speed.

Now I think her Modem, which is Qwest issued wireless DSL, Actiontec GT701-WG, that is more than 5 years old is dying.

I can post the logs from the scans if you'd like, but as far as I can tell it has to be the modem because a second PC in the house which is connected to the Internet via wireless through that Modem - and had no viruses on it when checked - has the same slow download speed issue as the main PC.
