    Hi

Yes a couple of quick suggestions,

    1. As you say the PC is a few years old, if you can change the motherboard battery, then as g
hou will have reset CMOS check the BIOS settings

    2. Boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and see if the same issues happen, if not then use StartupCPL, and untick all startups and reboot, the if ok, enable one at a time until you find a cause/application

    How old is old?

Old enough to a have a dodgey capacitor or two? Flip the lid have a look.

A motherboard of mine from about six years or so ago failed, the symptoms prior to this was it would reset seemingly randomly but always prior to loading the windows login screen, when the unit was under a heavier load.

At first only one or two times it reset, untill finally before I opened the case and had a look almost an hour an a half... it had just managed to load the login screen as i walked in the door after doing some shopping..gosh even... it was never used after this...didnt want to risk fragging the rest of the components.

Quite possibly. Try running CCleaner on it. CCleaner is freeware available from right here at MG.com
