Issues- I've tried all the 'steps'

I've been looking at this site for a week or so now, as my laptop (Toshiba Satellite 1110) is behaving most bizzarely.

The Symptoms:

It all started with SpyFalcon about a month back. I got rid of it

However, since then, the problems keep coming back

First, and most irritatingly, my homepage is invariably set as www.securitysafeguards.net. I can't change it.

Also, even when Internet Explorer isn't open, I get dodgy popups

My taskbar keeps flashing little symbols at me

I've tried Ad-Aware, and every time I do I get 3-6 more critical files

HijackThis was a final attempt at screwing this thing, but I couldn't find anything outstandingly wrong

I'm not too clued up, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at my logfile

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Make sure you follow the instructions for installing HijackThis properly as you are not running it properly right now.

- Start by emptying you Norton NPROTECT folder so any junk in it is not detected. This will makes scans go faster and reduce log sizes.

- Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

- Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
