Issues with SpybotSD

I'm working my way through the 'Windows XP Cleaning Procedure' hoping to eliminate any malware.

SUPERantispyware worked great as far I can tell.

SpybotSD ran into a problem. First it would not run in any way. I renamed SpybotSD.exe to SBSD.exe and it started right up. However, after scanning for a few minutes it popped up and said that it needed to restart the computer to scan and fix things properly.

I went ahead and finished the scan, fixed what it could.

When I tried to do the restart the computer couldn't find SpybotSD.exe, which I had renamed in order to run the program. I then tried to start Spybot, rename the .exe and scan.

When I restarted Spybot didn't run. So that's where I am now.
Except I did also run malwarebytes anti-malware. That seemed OK.

Any help?

I haven't run combofix or MGtools yet, so no logs.
I thought I would get a little advice on the Spybot portion before proceeding.
If your advice is continue with combofix an MGtools that's what I'll do.
