A definite case of mistaken iDENTity.

Don't worry, Joey. It will be well and truly stirred by now.

PS Adding my prayers and best wishes too, Tim.

Working in the medical field for 4yrs now is an "eye" opener to me now as to what goes on and the thoughts on diagnosis! so nothing suprises me these days.

Wow on the mistake and charging, while the mistake could happen in the UK, the charge wouldnt as majority of treatment is free as we have a paid for goverment system in the NHS, if you go private then you could be hit for extra costs due to mistakes. We are using one cancer drug for AMD in the eye as its properties halt or slow angiogenesis which basically cancer proliferates due to these new blood vessels, and new antiVEGF drugs are from what I can see of our early work, helping, but they are not sadly targeting all cancers yet, maybe with more genetics and stemcell work they may.

That was a crazy day all the way around. Those doctors I mentioned were working on a woman who tried to commit suicide, that was unnerving hearing that, my baby had a temp of 105, then my neighbor who went with me for support ended up in the next stall, turns out she had a seizure in the corridor. Bad day

Can the milk be substituted for soy? I know that baking is chemistry, so swapping out an ingredient could possibly ruin it. Anyone know?

Haven't tried using soy milk...but what the hey.....go for it! :)

I can't do cow-milk, due to lacking a certain digestive enzyme... I will try with soy and report back! :D

Here's hoping it doesn't end up like mine.:banghead 'Er indoors refuses to let me in the kitchen again. Don't know why she's complaining, it only took her 45 minutes to tidy up.:hammer. She also called me a f:*** a:***

Unlike some, I know what the word "mix" means when I see it in a recipe... :p

Using organic vanilla soy milk instead of cow milk worked GREAT! Augie, find some soy milk, and microwave away! :highfive

All the icecream in my freezer is sorbet. :) And soy ice cream is really good. Very creamy.

Oops! I've got a bit of a blind spot for the word mix. Will try again tomorrow. Ooooooh, The missus has just seen this post and told me if I even think about going in the kitchen she will take great pleasure in turning me into a eunuch.....or words to that effect.

By the way, I can take the sarcasm, it's not my fault I'm obtuse.:(

  23. GCWesq

    GCWesq MajorGeek

    Phew!!! :-o:-o:-o
I knew I was leaving myself open for that one, but I didn't expect it to go quite that far!!!

I'm in Australia - South East corner. Probably not far from Temeria (???), as the crow flies.10.44 Sunday morning.

  24. Mimsy

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

If you didn't help her clean up the mess you created, I can see why... first rule of kitchen work is that if you use it, you clean it. If you're not willing to do that then you're just going to have to miss out on the cake.

    No, that wasn't sarcasm. :wine

  25. Mimsy

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

Then you are almost exactly 18 hours ahead of me. :)

Temeria is a fictional place. It's the name of the country that the game The Witcher takes place in, and Vizima is the capitol. I like that game a lot, and it's one of the more unforgettable and convincing settings I have seen in a game in a very long time so I put it in my profile as a way of paying tribute to a great game.

    In time only, no doubt!

Nice. I guess I've done the same thing, but used where I live.

Agree with this, but only if you're the only one to EAT it. Otherwise, those who eat (other than the cook) clean. ;)

  27. joey off the street

joey off the street Lounge Lizard No.1

Yeah, apologies. I normally do clean up, I was just so interested/shocked in my chocolate bisque it went completely out my head......well, she went mental. I offered but that woman thing came through in her. What is it called again....? Oh, yes....stubbornness.

    OK, my mistake, sorry.

Anyway, we've come to a compromise. She is going to do the cake and I will tidy up and wash dishes.

How ironic, or maybe it's just fitting, that this thread has turned into

    LOL

How's Diane feeling, Tim? Are her spirits good? :)

Other than dreading the surgery and the hospital food ( :) ) she is having a problem with an air bubble between the lung and the chest lining....neotho...something. It should absorb in a few days the doc says.....but is very painful at times.

Apparently, cake does not cure it. :(

  32. joey off the street

Is this anything to do with the biopsy sample they took or is it related to Diane's illness?

I feel for her, I'm such a baby when it comes to pain.

More best wishes and prayers are ongoing.

  33. TimW

Related to the biopsy....:( But at least now I got a stash of oxy....hehe.

Pneumothorax, perhaps? Not fun, but treatable, unfortunately, as you observe, the treatment does not involve cake, or even ice cream.:(

  37. TimW

TimW MajorGeeks Administrator - Jedi Malware Expert Staff Member

That's it, thank you sherpaprime. Sometimes hard to remember medical terms when you have so much to take in. Had it been a little bigger, they would have put her in hospital and done a chest tube......:(.

I almost wish they had, because she is not supposed to do heavy lifting or straining. So what does she do? ........................................................... Carts firewood around and carries it in the house. ( At least she isn't trying to split any.....yet).

Better load her up on the tranqs, Tim. Pneumothorax is not really a thing to mess around with like that. Do they know the cause? Was it physical trauma or something else? Sometimes you really need to heed what the Dr.s say and this is one of them.

Hi Tim, I'm wishing Diane all the best, and tell her to take it easy.... It isn't often she can, so tell her to relax, and take it easy... A Pneumothorax is not really a thing to mess around with, for sure, and she should listen to the Dr's. Best of wishes to both of you, and are you cooking? ;) :wave

  42. darlene1029

    darlene1029 A Grand Lady- R.I.P. 06/06/2012

I finally looked that up, it's a collapsed lung. That was my big fear coming home from LA after my surgery with nothing but road for the better part of the way.
If Diane is anything like me it makes me nervous to sit and relax, not my nature.

  43. TimW

TimW MajorGeeks Administrator - Jedi Malware Expert Staff Member

Sit and relax?? Yeah, right. If she stops moving, she falls asleep...:-D....so I don't have to worry about what movie I rent, cause she has slept through it anyway.

The Doc said it was small and would re-absorb. Just going to be painful at times until it does.

About the only way I know to get her to lay down is to run her over with a Mac truck......anyone got one handy??

  44. GCWesq

I did see a truck carrying a load of PCs... will that do? :confused

I've got access to a fork lift truck. It's not fast, but could do the job. Might be a bit of a pain getting it over there.;)

Hi Tim, thanks for the update. I hope all goes well, for sure.. :wave
Best of Luck to ya both, and hang in there. As for sleeping, plug in another movie, and she will snooze right thru it, besides, it is probably good for her now.. I think rest is good anytime you can get it!:-D

Tranqs, TimW, tranqs, that's why the doc gave 'em to ya. :zzz

Or you can just rent a movie and save the meds for yourself! Whatever works!

Just a line to give my best wishes to Diane on her appointment with her surgeon tomorrow (today, here in the UK.) Hope she is feeling better and the pneumothingy has made itself scarce. Hope you are still remaining positive. Prayers and good luck from the McGuinness clan.
