Great news Tim for Diane and you, getting feedback like that from the surgeon and how he thought it went was great comfort I bet, wishing her a speedy recovery.

Short update...( they do have WiFi in her area so may be able to get on tomorrow for a while).....they had to remove the epidural as the drug was giving her a mild allergic reaction. They replaced it with a morphine drip and so now she is pain free and goofy as all get out. She has also lost a lot of blood and needs a transfusion. But her attitude is excellent and she is determined to do more than is expected of her. The care she is receiving is excellent. I couldn't ask for better.

Now to find some cake and take a nap. :)

Tie her to the bed if she insists on doing things beyond the call of duty. She's just come through major surgery, for crying out loud.
    Glad to hear the positives.
She couldn't possibly be in a better place at the minute. After what Diane's just been through, it's encouraging you are both still positive.
    Til tomorrow, with any luck.
    Happy thoughts to you both.

We will keep the positive thoughts coming your way, and I am so sorry about your horse... I think you are right, this may be the best place for her during this sad time..... Hope you have a good night's sleep, and take care

Great to hear things went well. Now, while she's goofy, is a good time to get her to agree to all those things you've always wanted. Make sure you get it in writing though. :-D

Did you manage to find some cake. Of course, you could always make some... anyone got a recipe? rolleyes

PS Very sad about old Ned. Sorry to hear that. :(

Tim, Great to hear that Diane is pulling through. Good news about the surgery being straightforward! Sorry about the horse not making it, :( those critters can really grow on you if you're not careful, which is a drag 'cause they can get heavy! :-D

Anyway, take care, get lots of rest, and keep us posted!

Diane was released today from hospital. Chest tube fell out last night.....and no more air leaks. :) Doctor told her to go home.

Now my work is cut out for me. If I don't knock her out with the pain meds, she is back to trying to do everything she did before the surgery. She is going to wear me out!! :(

We are most appreciative of all the prayers and good wishes. You guys and gals helped us get thru a very trying time, and I am in your debt.:major

Woohoo! Yay for her being out. :) I bet she's ecstatic about that. Hospitals are the pits to be in with those nurses waking you every few hours.

I had a nice one last time. There she was with a throat light shining her beams on me while gently pushing a metal rod in me! Damn man, that was a nurse!!!:-D.

Are you sure that tube didn't get a little help from her *smiles* Just remind Diane that she will end up back in the hospital if she doesn't take it easy. Hope you both are able to get some rest now, great news at her being home. Smiles and warm wishes to both of you.

Very glad to hear that news, Tim. It's the next few weeks that are critical in Diane's recovery. So MAKE her take it easy until she's out of danger of infections. Fatigue can be a factor, too. She and you MUST get some rest. She has to let her body recover from this ordeal. Like Cat says, if she won't take it easy, she'll end up right back in hospital.
Is that what she wants......? Cos that's what'll happen.
Best wishes and good luck in your efforts to make her take some much needed rest.

Good work Tim. Excellent news. :)
Now to throw a slight possible spanner into the advice arena. rolleyes
I'm not a doctor or any kind of health carer, so this is a question only.
While rest is great for recovery, is it not true that feeling good about life and having high morale is also good for recovery? If so, what happens if someone who has undergone surgery would feel better and have higher morale if they were able to be a bit active - there are people like that, I think (I'm definitely NOT one! At least, I don't think I would be).
Is it possible that such a person would be better to at least return to a bit of normality, even if it meant resting a little less? :confused

Hehehe, everyone here is talking about rest, :-D If Diane is anything like my mum was, that's the last thing she would be thinking about! Hey, 8 days after her quad, there she was tending to her garden.:)

While rest is needed, some activity " as tolerated " is the best advice. The problem, as auggie pointed out, is that she doesn't know what "as tolerated" means. :)

She is very glad to be at home, but wishes I wasn't LOL

(I threatened to rope her down!!!! She told me to try and catch her!! :()

We so appreciate everyones support.............now, is there anyone close by who could can do a little light housekeeping???? :-D

Hi Tim, that is good news, just have to make her rest. She may be ready in mind, but not the body! She just got out of the Hospital, and I am sure she doesn't want to go back .... Just wait on her hand and foot, I am sure she will get used to that ! roflmao

She has got to take it easy, and the only thing I know of " as tolerated " requires a nice soft pillow, and a nice cozy couch! :zzz

All the best to you both!!! :-D

We had horses ( the mare died the night before Diane went to hospital,,, the gelding we gave to a neighbor) .....and it still does require a shovel....hehehehe. It's what happens when you allow a married man to fend for himself. :)
