It never ends

OK, so for the last week or so, my computer would randomly freeze and reboot and have major display errors and such and I was going nuts trying to figure it out. Well, I rolled the drivers back on the AGP vid card (the other one is fading fast, need to replace) and thought that was the end of it. Then I kept having crashes and reboots and stuff... finally, I figured out the proble... turns out my CPU Heat Sink fan was shot adn I was overheating this 2+gig pentium.... ooops. Ah well.. all fixed, bigger fan and hopefully a better time But it never ends, so now I have to see what happens next

Congrats on finding/fixing it. And thank God for cpu temp sensors and throttles that keep them from frying these days.

My last failure was a power supply, which took the motherboard and cpu with. LOL. Great excuse for a total makeover, but would have rather waited until AM2 and Conroe were released.

 

LOL... true, it could be a lot worse. I figure it will be a little bit before I can really work on upgrades like bigger HDD's (2 20Gig HDD's at the moment) and a hi speed vid card (primary and only one working is a TNT2 M64 AGP card this is nice, but not as nice as I would want.) and maybe a couple of LCD monitors... or a 60 inch plsama monitor

 

My current rig has nearly a terrabyte of storage in total, and behind it? 512MB of RAM with a AMD Athlon XP 3000+. It's pretty ancient But somehow, I love it heh heh. I don't really want an excuse to "upgrade", but I'm sure this baby will have a happy retirement doing some nice comfortable tasks as a server.
