It wasn't Malware that was the problem....

First, I posted in the Malware section of the forum and followed the instructions there and corrected the problems i left out, like getting rid of some programs. At first, it worked perfectly. Then it started minimizing again at random. Now the program won't even come up at all. The thread said that if i had anymore problems it was most likely a software conflict.

    Here is my first post:

Thank you for taking the time and looking into my problem.

I read your other thread but I'm unclear as to "Now the program won't even come up at all."

    What program? Is everything minimizing?

Try running SFC /scannow from a command window, note space before the /.

Any other problems with the 'puter? :wave:wave

Also, it looks like you have Norton AND AVG running?

The program is the Sims 2, and it's not just that program, in fact a lot of games i play do that, like online games. Things like Microsoft Word will not, Firefox won't Nor will any of my other programs like editing software. Just games. Whenever I put the game in or click to play it, it will pop up, the title intro page thing, then it will go to minimize. I will click on it again, and it will minimize again. Then I repeat that process for several times. Sometimes, it will allow me to play the game after clicking on it for a long time, other times it won't and i'll just end the program in frustration. The sims 2 will no longer come up, I will click on it and it will show the title page then it won't play, the disk will run but it just disappears and eventually the disk will stop playing.

I also removed Norton and just kept AVG.

I uninstalled norton and kept AVG( and i think i did everything else in the malware thread about what i needed to get rid of) and also the sound that it makes when i slide the sound up and down on the sound icon has stopped so i can never really gauge how loud something will be. I don't know if that's really much help, but the rest of the windows sounds still work, I think. Also i get a runtime error sometimes and whenever i shut down my computer I will get this message about something stops working.
