Hi i hope someone can help, i seem to have a deep rooted problem i just can't fix. Ive tried windows defender, adaware, mcaffee and finally hijack this, ive removed what i found on other sites but im still not convinced. IE has a mind of its own and ive removed around 50 trojans in a week despite all my security allegedly running fine. so in a last ditch attempt here is my latest hijack this log, can anyone tell me what has to be removed?

Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.

    cheers

    Hi Claire!
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

To begin with you have Spybot's Teatimer running, which means it will have been blocking some of your fixes. To turn off Teatimer, please do the following:
Next I would like to ask you to run our MGTools which will give us a better picture of what's going on with your computer and will also fix some problems along the way. Are you using XP or Vista? In the instructions you'll see some differences according to your operating system. Please look for those and use the ones that apply for your computer. When you've finished, you'll get a set of logs that we request you to attach to your next post. The MGTools are quite fast and provide a lot of information, so I think it would be worth your time, despite having already tried many other things, for you to do this.

The tools can be found in the READ & RUN ME FIRST

    Hi Claire!
Were you unable to install and run the MGTools.exe which includes a properly installed and renamed HijackThis? We have found that hijackthis alone does not give us adequate information about what is going on in people's computers and that's why we've made it part of a collection of tools we use for our cleaning procedures.

Please go back to the READ & RUN ME FIRST and scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you'll find a link to instructions for your operating system. Select the correct link and find on the page that opens a link for the MGTools.exe. Please download this per the instructions. Then run MGtools.exe which will create a set of zipped logs called MGlogs.zip and can be found either directly under C:\ . Please attach this new log file. This procedure takes a couple of minutes to install and less than a minute to run.

    Hi claire!

Your logs are clean. The only thing I could find which needs fixing is that you should go to add/remove programs and uninstall an old Java version.

    - Java(TM) 6 Update 2

If you are getting 50 Trojans a week, I need more information. What are the names of some of the Trojans you're getting? What is the pathway given for them? Is McAfee finding them?

It appears that my have run AVG Antispyware 7.5 without asking that the found problems be fixed, or that AVG Antispyware doesn't work for Vista. I'm quite sure it works with Vista, so please rerun it and make sure it fixes everything. It's important that the UAC be disabled while you are trying to run the different tools.

A particular problem with Vista is that many of the tools which work for earlier operating systems don't work for Vista. AdAware may not work. HijackThis does not remove any items. It only shows certain entries in your computer, some of which are good and some of which are not good. In order for us to remove malware, we have to know what it is and where to look for it.

Also, please be specific about what you mean about IE having a mind of its own.

The last thing is that I noticed you have a Symantec folder in your C:\Programdata. If Symantec was installed on your computer, did you remove it? And if so, how did you proceed?

Thanks for more information about these things.
