I'm not really making any headway in solving it--
I keep running around in circles.

I had to have major repairs done to my PC and
now I've discovered that the audio is dead.

It says that there is no audio device.

To make a long story short, I have used EVEREST to glean
the pertinent info in a report so that someone could help me.
Or direct me to a good thread.

I have attached the log file. Let me know if you need anything
else. Thanks so much!

Hi

What sort of major repairs did yo have done?

But what I would start off with is to install the Intel Chipset Driver HERE and reboot, then install the Audio driver from HERE

If that doesnt clear this up then check in Services, found in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services that the Windows Audio Service is Started and set to Automatic startup type.

Then check that the sound is not muted, in the Audio properties (right click and open on the speaker icon in the system tray).

Then do the following and as it involves the registry, if your not confident in editing the registry find a friend who is.

Goto Start>Run and type in regedit , then click OK.
Click the plus signs in front of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, Current Control Set, Control, and finally, click Windows.
In the right panel you will see CSDVersion.
Right click it, choose Modify.
In the highlighted input window, you should see 300. Change it to 200.
Click OK, close regedit and restart your PC. Windows will now think it is SP2 and allow you to install the Microsoft UAA Driver from HERE and then your Sound Driver

Make sure to reboot and then test your sound BEFORE, changing the value back to 300.

Then follow the same steps to change it back to SP3. Change the 200 back to 300.

I'm so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Thanks to you,
I was able to fix the problem and, believe me, I learned a lot
in the process.

My audio works fine now!!!
