    Got a job offer tonight. 10k pay cut though. I'm so torn.

    What?! It has been 48 hours and you are STILL not employed...:-D

    If you need the $ take the job, I don't know your situation, but for a $10K hit, I would shop around for other jobs.

    Unless you normally make $300K, and would only make $290K. :major

    But, 'knowing' you like I do, you might make up that $10k in just a few months. Might think about that.

    If it comes with benefits, it may still be worth considering, especially if you become a full employee and not a contractor.

    I like the gray. Full black may have taken attention away from the text, not it accentuates it. And it makes it look like you spent time and effort on your resume, that in itself is a very good thing.

    Tough decision. You could take it and continue to look. Glad to hear you received an offer so quickly. :cool

    I know this isn't a programming thread, but I looked at your code.
    It looks good!

    Love the photos on the Hobbies page.

    Got some great T-shirts and a sweat shirt at Sabino Canyon about ten years ago, but the folks that were selling those disappeared.

    Thanks!

    I'm really thinking of taking this job offer. I really hate being out of work, and I have two car payments plus school loans to worry about. I can be more picky once the contract ends.

    If you are getting good thoughts about it, go for it! You can always look for a different path.

    Well, if I get more experience, I will be better off. Then I will be more qualified for the jobs paying double what this one is.

    Liked the way you linked to MG.

    Quick question: on your home page is the offset from center intentional?

    I took the wrong approach due to frustration, and have now lost my wife. I am not frustrated now, and would approach things differently if given a 2nd chance for sure.

    Here is hoping things turn around for you. ;)

    RE: Resume

    Remove "I" from the text. Summary of Qualifactions should be including as many action words as possible.

    Are you strictly wanting to find a tech position, or do you want to also seek other opportunities? If you seek other positions, you will rewrite the summary for each position on each resume you submit. Reading other resumes on Dice.com may give you some help. Don't be afraid to steal what will portray you as the perfect solution. The market is brutally tough. Many companies use a scanner and will remove resumes without a grabbing quick introduction.

    First Dice.com Google result says your resume will survive for all of only SIX seconds.

    I have taken liberty to edit your summary to 12 words below, and it still does not entirely grab.

    Dedicated programmer and software tester with capable abilities to provide quality results.

    I would move the rest lower in the page and rewrite to change to second or third person. jmo

    I am a quick study. If there is something I do not know, I do whatever it takes to find the answer. To expand my experience and knowledge from my degree, I develop applications and code with students and junior developers using C#, VB.NET, Java, Swing, and WPF (https://www.kwestdg.com/projects). I also spend my free time tutoring other programming students to facilitate their learning.

    Thank you for the suggestions.

    By the way, dice.com didn't have crap for me in jobs when I looked :(

    Been there and ignored that site as well. I was simply looking for tech resumes for examples. ;)

    Just looked at that.

    The navbar is centered.
    No width set; just margin: auto;

    div nav_container is not used, but has

    text-align: center;
    width: 95%;
    margin: auto;

    div main_container has

    text-align: center;
    margin-left: 10%;
    padding-top: 4%;
    width:95%;

    just an oversight, IMHO

    remove the margin-left and add margin: auto; and all should be cool. :)

    I've done that.
    I get so concerned with content, I don't even see those things. :-D

    Hope I'm not stepping on any toes - or tows :)

    Oh that's crap news always. Jeremy I hope you find something good quickly as being out of work for a period of time is not nice, longest I have been without work was 2 months, I was luckily paid for that time from last employer but to claim benefits can get you in a downward spiral.

    For me getting into gov medical research dept for ophthalmology has not let me "look" back, so possibly look into public service Jeremy.

    Thanks, I'll fix it. I changed it from a two column to single column site at the last minute and apparently missed dSome changes.

    Always bound to be something messed up when you repurpose a site. :)

    Thanks. Not quite Html5 compliant. Most of the validation errors are easy to fix...except my Navigation system. Not sure how to fix that one without major surgery.

    Looks like you need the Chainsaw of Coding.

    Sorry to hear that, but just because you get a job is no reason not to keep looking. My father, in one of his moments of wisdom is fond of saying: 'I was looking for a job when I found this one, I'll be looking for one when I leave.'

    I never implied that I stopped looking that I am aware of.

    I did take the weekend off though.
