I thought it was just another day in Ireland and and that it was the west that really did the big parades and celebrations etc.

 

I do not like green beer and spam, I do not like them... Sam I am.

 

it was actually a religious holiday in ireland, and became a public holiday in the early 1900's. i believe the pubs were actually closed on saint patricks day.
