With my wife headed for diability and a capital gains exclusion for primary home sale, we did not earn enough to have to pay. :)

One employer did not withhold tax, but only earned $236. I had a cold sweat when I saw Fed Tax box on W-2 marked 0.00.

    LOL. You and everybody else.

Point I was looking for, and very few played along, is that whenever ANYBODY talks about taxes, they talk about the size of the refund or the size of the check they have to send. Almost nobody pays any attention at all to how much tax they paid for the year. Most have no idea even though they just looked at all the numbers on their W-2 forms. It doesn't even register.

I got a refund this year too, but even discounting the refund, I paid about 7 grand to Uncle Sugar and another 1200 bucks to the state (and Mississippi is CHEAP as state taxes go).

So I ask again... how much did you all pay this past year????? ;)

$13260.96 Fed, state, local, Social Security, and Medicare taxes total this year. A little under $1600 refund from the state and feds total. It's enough to make you cry

$13093 fed $4506 State. Had to pay 1400 federal, 660 state.

I worked as an indpendant contractor (ie, not for a company but paid my own taxes, ssi, etc) for 3 months - really got nailed. Won't do that again.

I decided the idiot son-in-law needed the state program and there is a rebate. I ran my taxes and owe $3 to California.

Sigh..

Yeah I work for the company, it's not true, and they're actually sueing them for reporting bad information. The only information that the company takes from e-filing is the total amoutn of refunds recieved through the free file allowance and its only becasue the IRS makes them report it.
