iTunes losing PllayList Folder

Win 7 32 bit Home Premium.
itunes 10.0.0.68

I create a new Playlist Folder under iTunes dj, then name it for the artist. Under that I create a new folder named for the album. I then copy and paste from the Music section where songs are stored en masse. The problem has occurred even when I had a simple single layer for each album and was not bothering with artist / Album layers

This works fine until suddenly all the songs in the Playlist Folders disappear. They are still there in the Music section, but all reference to them has been lost in the Playlists and I have to go back to Music and manually reinstate the links.

Luckily I give each album a different equaliser, and by sorting Music by eq name, I can gather the album songs into groups in Music, so I can copy them in a bunch to their playlists, but it is still a pest and of course should not happen.

This quite a new PC, used solely for TV, DVD and music. It has had no other major crashes or trouble. I cannot see any constant trigger for this. It happens every couple of weeks or so and seems random.

I would seriously like to know if I can prevent this, and if not, how to regain the Playlists without a protracted copy and paste routine.

You seem to have a very precise way in which you are trying to store your music and playlists in iTunes. What settings have you specified in the Advanced Tag under your preferences? (perhaps it is affecting things).
