Hello everyone,my names Charlotte and I was wondering if someone could help me with my iPod not syncing to my iTunes properly.

Okay well basically,a while ago my laptop caught a virus and in the end I ended up having to reboot the whole thing.
(My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate)

Luckily I stored everything on an external hardrive so no important data was lost for me and I put it back straight onto my laptop.

However, because of this,it meant I had to download iTunes again, and so I did.
(I have the latest iTunes and iPod Touch version downloaded)

Then I found a way how to sync all my music from my iPod touch (not the 4th gen) to my laptop, so I did and put all my music and more (from albums I haven't downloaded yet e.t.c) onto my newly downloaded iTunes.

(One thing I didn't do however was transfer my apps to iTunes, if someone would help me with that it would also be much appreciated too as I don't want to lose them, especially the ones i've paid for)

But anyway, back to the original topic. Because of downloading iTunes again and rebooting my laptop, my iPod Touch wont sync to my new iTunes and I don't know what I can do to fix this?

Another thing I did notice was on the 'Devices' option on the sidebar, it now says 'iPod Touch', instead of 'Charlotte's iPod'.

I'm really stuck on what to do because when my iPod does sync to my iTunes it says 'Syncing iPod Touch (Step 1 of 1)', when usually it should be of 4 steps, like backing up data and transferring purchases e.t.c.
    Then it just finishes sync..

One thing I did do was de-authorize it and re-authorize it again as I found online that it worked for some people,.... for me it didn't. To be honest I didn't expect it to work as I thought it was just for anyone trying to hack/take away your music...but it was worth a shot anyway.

    But please help!

I really want to put more songs onto my iPod

    Many Thanks for reading this,
    ~Charlotte

I take it that you have reformatted the computer as you call it in your case 'rebooting' which is not what it is not called that.
The reason it now says 'iPod Touch insted of "Charlotte's iPod" is because you have to name it in iTunes as I'm aware.

Seems iTunes has been reinstalled make sure you got Music,Apps etc selected to be synced, if there is no content on either iPod Touch or the computer there it can't sync anything which I'm pretty sure you do have things on your iPod Touch.

If you wish to put the app back into the iTunes library you must navigate to
C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications then place the .ipa files there.
Or just goto your Music Folder and navigate from there...

I cannot understand what is not working, if there's any details you can add that would help greatly. but it doesn't sound as if there's any problem, I suggest you Google you issue and you will probably find your answer.

    Hi Charlotte

By Reboot I would imagine you mean re-install Windows? if that is the case then the store folder to the apps will have been over-written, but don't despair just yet as their maybe a way to get them back as Apple added a neat option (long overdue) to iTunes in that you can check the offline and purchased apps you had! and restore them

I would fully uninstall iTunes again and check add remove for anything apple and uninstall those too, then run CCleaner and its cleaner and registry app, then follow the below.

Open iTunes and plug in your iPod and then logging to iTunes (must also have latest iTunes or at least 10.3 version for this feature), you need to login to the very account you purchased the apps from, then in iTunes Store menu on the right hand side under Quick Links (called Purchased NEW) then that will open up your app purchases from that iPod, then click ALL and see if the ones you need are their if not click Not in My Library (which is likely the option you need) then click Download All at the bottom, this will add all your apps back to your Library of apps, then you need to sync with your iPod to re-install them, sadly if you have saved positions in some games they maybe lost.
