iTunes sarts and stops

Hello!
When I play music stored in my computer via iTunes, it happens quite often that it starts and stops after a while, during the first track or during one of the following tracks. It is not a pause but a stop : the spot where it stopped is lost.

This never happened before. Is it possible that I have too much music (about 200 Go) and the software can't handle it? Or is it a hardware problem. I thought I'd wait for the next update: that was yesterday but it did not help, I still have the problem.

 

Sounds like a hardware problem ,,have you run a complete (check both boxes) disk check?? Are all hardware drivers up to date?? Sorry for all the questions, but this IS unusual!!!!

 

There are several possibilities, since you didn't note an operating system I suggest you go through these two threads and start eliminating the items mentioned. This has actually been a bug in Itunes since 2008, depending on which particular bug is causing your problem.

The two threads indicated here are related to undesired starts whereas my problem is undesired stops. I nevertheless checked the desk-speakers connection: it seemed OK to me but I took the jack out and plugged it in again. It is too early for a conclusion, we'll see.

I have a HP desktop running under Windows Vista.

 

Apparently, the problem is solved. So it must have been related to the jack-connection.
