I'm having problems getting iTunes to launch after installing it today. Then I double-click the icon, it opens for a second and then closes. I'm running Webroot Spy Sweeper on my machine. For the past six months, I had this same problem opening my Control Panel - it would open and then close. Now, all of a sudden, the Control Panel window opens just fine. What should I do? Thanks.

    Welcome to MG's.

But why are you posting problems with using iTunes in the Spyware Forum?

Are you saying you think this malware shutting down iTunes?

I'm sorry ... I saw other posts about programs that wouldn't stay open and I thought it was spyware related. Should I have posted in Software problems?

That depends! Do you think it is malware? Do you have problems running any other programs? Why would only iTunes be attacked?

I don't know what malware is. But, this problem affected the control panel in past months. All of a sudden, the control panel opens -- but iTunes doesn't. What is malware?

Malware is basically anything like a virus, trojan, adware, spyware, dialer, hijacker etc. This forum is named the Spyware Forum but a more appropriate name would be the Malware Cleaning Forum. :)

If you want to be sure you do not have malware problems, work thru the below. It will take awhile to run all the steps but when we are finished you will be clean.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis
