    ...and you know what?

    I LIKE IT!

I am using Mac OSX 10.4, and havne't missed my Windows machine one bit.

At first I thought that software support would suck, but in reality, its just as rich as Unix, and Linux, actually moreso, due to apps specifically for Mac OSX, PLUS legacy Mac apps.

If I can't find a Mac app, I know I can find a Unix app that will do the job :D

If I never used another Windows machine (save for games), I'll die happy.

Just curious, what made you decide to switch? Was a woman? (Hey, Adam, why don't you try just a bite of this apple, it's delicious) Peer pressure at school? (C'mon, everybody's doing it, be cool like us) Maybe you lost clarity for a moment? (Have you been drinking?)
Or was it something else completely, like a payoff? (I'll give you 5 Mac Machines if you promise not to squeal)
Or maybe it was a political move? ("In the interest of the greater good, and after examining all the various issues at hand, it is apparent that mistakes were made, and the guilty party has been found out. We hereby announce our new alliance, and we hope that the people of America will support this alliance with all the utmost vigor they can muster. Let's show them what we are made of, what this country is made of, what our freedom is about...." etc etc etc ad nauseum)
Or maybe you've been talking to, oh, what's his name again, SATAN?

    :D :D :D

I must admit I know nothing about OS, nor what the advantages or disadvantages are, for I've never used it. But it sure is fun to poke fun!

    Rofl!

Reasons I switched (at this point):

PowerBook has a 4-6 hour battery lifespan.
    Its light.
Windows holds no challenges for me at this point. I've broken, fixed, modded, tweaked, and everything else under the sun (get your mind out of the gutter ;))
Mac OS cost 129 bucks vs. 299 for a Pro version of XP.
At any time I can drop down to Darwin and use Unix giving me just as big a software selection as Windows.
Did I mention the battery life?
The OS in itself is more elegant, IMO, and prettier (Lets face it, I'm a sucker for nice GUIs)
Anything that Windows Vista will have--I already have ;)
My PC was raising the temperature of our house by several degrees!

I could go on, but my mind is fried from class today.

    Some other reasons:

    No viruses.
    No spyware.

    :D

It's liberating to jump to the darkside once in a while ;)

    Apple notebooks do look nifty!

I did the same and jumped to the darkside a while back when I bought an AMD :D

    LOL!

And here I've always been on the dark side and was going to jump into the light(Intel), until it burned me.

It burns! Get it off! GET IT OFF!

...and they said hell would never freeze over!

Seriously though, it is all your fault. You left MG for too long, and caused me to resort to drastic actions.

I was gone a week.. and this is what I come home to.. I feel nautious.. lol :p

In all seriousness though, I like the MacOS. I played with it several times at school and it's quite nice.

I just wish it would run on x86 ;)

In its own right, this machine is very nicely built, esp. with the ambient light sensors built into the laptop speakers. It just costs too much.

I hear next release will be before Vista, and will still be on the PPC platform. So it looks like Intel macs are still some ways off. Its a shame, I'm hoping it will drop the cost of Macs.

Even though I'm a Windows user, I'll be buying a Powerbook once I save up enough (college student here). Since my two period Computer Tech class my senior year, I absolutely fell in love with Macs. The OS runs solidly on less resources than Windows uses, and, like Adrynalyne, I'm a big time sucker for a good looking GUI, and Quartz Extreme (if you Windows guys even know what that is) does a fantastic job. As for OS X on available for x86, I'll revise your statement. It will run on an x86 processor, but it is not LEGALLY available for use on any x86 processor ;). *Shifty Eyes*

    Er, yeah.

    legally ;)

Powerbooks are great. The battery life and power saving features alone makes them fantastic.

By the sounds of if you might be able to use WineX to get support for HL on OSX.

But does Adryn play COUNTER STRIKE or BF2?
