I am trying to call in a SIP, for a new job voice quality test, but the java application I am testing with tells me that my ports aren't open on 5060. I even used the DMZ setting temporarily to see if it indeed wasn't forwarded correctly. I don't have a VOIP phone either. I am really stumped on this one. Trying to get a new job and I have to pass an ip quality call, so this is not just a little trouble for me. :) Thanks in advance guys.
But this is the error message I am getting still from the testing site.
    Home Agent Voice Quality Testing
    Test Failed
Your computer couldn't call our location on the standard SIP port (5060). Generally, one of the following environmental issues causes this failure:
If you have a VoIP Service, your VoIP/Phone Adaptor may have reserved the standard SIP port and is filtering out our SIP packets. Consider temporarily removing the Adaptor from your configuration and re-running the test.
Your Personal Firewall, if you are using Windows XP, may be filtering the SIP and UDP ports used for communication.
Either your home firewall or your broadband provider's firewall may be blocking the SIP and UDP ports used for communication.
Please check these firewall settings and ensure that UDP ports 5060 and 50000 - 50100 are open for RTP streams and SIP signaling. Then re-run your test.

    There are NO firewalls activated...SIGH. >.< :confused:confused

Hi a.espo and welcome to MGs.
You said you tried with the DMZ setting so I am assuming you are using a router behind a modem. Try hooking straight to the modem from the comp in question and run your test that way. You can hook back up afterwards to your normal set up.

Actually I have a Thompson Gateway. So everything is together. I should have added that to the post, but I have went MANY hours without sleeping...lol :zzz

I'm not familiar with the Thompson. What model/version do you have?
I can do some digging or someone else may be familiar with the specific gateway and problem.
Also, you may need to make sure your gateway is up to date on firmware and Java is up to date. (Left field suggestions)

I was having the same problem and probably for the same reason. Took me FOREVER to figure it out, but it was a setting on my router. It has NAPT and I needed to disable that. I was banging my head too after turning off all firewalls and still having the same issues, my firewalls are now all on, just had to disable the NAPT... hope this helps any with the same issues!
