Ok I've followed all the instructions in the "READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal" Thread. I have java.bytever.a and java.bytever.q in C:\Windows\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\...etc. etc. trend micro's scan detected 5 files infected with bytever (3 with A and 2 with Q) all in Sun Java files.

I would really like to run and post a Hijack This log file and am hoping someone here is willing to take this on. I've disabled system restore, I've backed up my registry all I need is YOU to help me get rid of the evil bytever. Thanks for looking and even more thanks if you think you can help me out of this mess.

    D3m3nt3d,

Thank-you very much, I really appreciate your willingness to help.

I did some more surfing for solutions and found it was a simple fix of going to control panel, then java plug-in and clearing the cache. (can you hear Homer Simpson saying 'Doh'?) I will say it took me a while to find the answer weeding through all the pages wanting to sell me a solution. I run CC Cleaner and HD Cleaner pretty regularly, so it surprised me the fix was just a matter of cleaning a cache. Surprised and relieved.
