java hang ups

I downloaded Java 6 and ever since Ive had warnings of low system resources, stalls, freezes. I didn't think about Java but checked out my puter for other problems. It passed everything. Java was the last thing installed and the problems start whenever I go online and play games. It eventually it just freezes up. So I googled Java 6 hang ups and found one article where a guy wrote in and said exactly what I had. Uninstalled java and puter's fine. But I can't play games. I also found a thingy from Java's page but no cure for it. Anybody know how to fix it. I only play on line and thats harsh not being able to when it requires java.

Oh, and I have xp, 2.39 GZ processor(intel)

 

This might help cleanup remnants of older versions which can cause problems.

Uninstall / remove Java runtime environment JRE old versions

Above is for version 1.15.
