Java Java Java, which one?

Hi All,

I am having a bit of a dilemma, I uninstalled Java on my machine becuase I wanted to update to a newer version, but silly me jumped ahead becuase I went to java.com and it's a lower version, well so I though, becuase then I did a google search for Java and realised I had the Sun Java Runtime Enviroment, so my question is, which one do I need as an END USER, for best performance & compatibility, I am not a Java knowledge-able person, all I know is it's need for the browsers for some websites (Firefox & IE I use), and my Limewire and Torrent Program (Azur) require it to run.

These are the one's available, I downloaded them both, but again, I do not know which is best for me, and the readme documents or website instructions don't make too much sense or promotion for either one.

1) Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 6 @ java.com
2) Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8 @ Sun Microsystems, Inc

Any help and/or information would be greatly appreciated!

go with the one from java.com. it's the one i'm using and it works fine. not java.sun.com should automatically update itself which is what your second link is going to. it's an update to the java download from your first link.
