I am having browser problems that appear to be java related. When I try to go on a website that requires Java, the page will not load properly and then the browser will stop responding.

If I try to go to a page like www.javatester.org or the page on java.com to test which version of Java I have installed, the same thing happens.

I have already uninstalled all old versions of Java and have tried installing/uninstalling the latest version several times. I have ensured that the Java plugin is enabled in Firefox.

The only way I can make these pages to work is to first open up the Java control panel by going into Control Panel>Programs>Java. Then, the pages load properly and the Java icon will appear in the system tray. However, if I restart the computer and try to open a browser, the same issues will occur.

I am using windows 7. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

BM222, greetings. Just curious. Right click IE, go to properties, select programs and click on manage add-ons. See if there are multiple versions of Java showing enabled. I ran into a problem a while back where I was showing an older version of Java enabled along with the most recent update enabled. Once I disabled the old versions, my problem went away. I'm hoping this may help or I could be way off base. :)

    Hi ichase,

Thanks for the response. It just says that the newest version is installed. However, the newest version is listed twice (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_22). I can't tell what, if anything, is the difference between the two.

In firefox, the newest version of Java is only listed once.

It looks like if I let the computer sit for about 60-90 seconds after I try to go to a page with java, the page will eventually load. Does this provide any clues as to what the issue is?

It is possible that your Internet connection is slow to download the Java application, but it may also be the server delivering the Java app too slow.

Internet Connection speed does not appear to be the issue - browsing is fast for everything else.

    Two things I would try.

Disable the Java add-ons, it will load itself when called for, just takes a few seconds.

    If no help, try uninstalling Java again with this tool;

Reboot, run ccleaner, both parts, then reinstall Java again from HERE

Thanks. I'm not sure if the JavaRA tool was working properly but since I reinstalled Java and ran CCleaner, Java now loads instantly.

Same issues on IE as well?

Yes, same issues for both browsers. For some reason, Java takes forever to load up every time. It even takes forever to open up the Java Control Panel from Control Panel.

BM, I am experiencing the same problems...It is taking up to 30 to 30 seconds to load or go back a page...

I am spending all most as much time waiting than being on the Internet...

I have disabled my Java Script in order to make the machine run as before...

This is very frustrating, indeed...Not only that, but my CPU is stuck of 100% for extended times as well (CS Fire Monitor)...

I will try some of the recommended fixes when I find some time...

blueice, please don't hijack someone else's thread. If you have a problem with java or javascript (they are different things)
    start here http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21
click the new thread button near the top left and state your problem, when it first occurred, what you've done to try and fix it and include your version of windows, as well as browser(s).
