    Hello All,

I am having a problem with Java on my computer. I have gone to Java and downloaded updates. "Coffee Cup" will appear in system tray for a period but disappear. After downloading, I will go to link to see if it is installed properly and the appelet does not run. I go through ways to check if it is set up properly and all say it is set up properly.
I also removed all java from system, restarted and then re-installed as well.

    Any assistance?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike

Which Windows version you using? (just like to have this info in case the issue maybe OS denendent)

But what I would try is to uninstall any Java thats on your PC, then run JavaRA to clean all files out as the JAVA uninstaller is like many others and doesnt remove all components.

If you have Spybot S&D disable it as it can block registry entries from being written.

Then install latest Java runtime from here

Thanks for the reply. I am using Windows XP. I read something somewhere that said that the new version of java (1.6 update 11) is for vista. Any truth to that?

I will try your sugestions and let you know.

    Thanks again

Still having an issue. If I go to the test link on the java site
    http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
    This is what I get
"This page tests to see if Java is working on your computer. This test applet, written with Java technology, displays information about your operating system, the JVM and the Java version.

If you can see the dancing Duke logo image animated in the applet above, then Java is functioning correctly."

I do not get anything. I get an empty box wit ha small red X in it.

    Help??

Make sure java is enabled in your browser. You might have it and it might be installed properly but if it is turned off in your browser, the Adobe test page will not work properly.

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same problem. How do you enable in browser? I believe I already did this but not sure. Any other ideas?

Java 6 update 11 had issues. The current version is 6 update 13. Try that.
