Hi! I'm hoping someone will help me with this. Although I've become much more computer literate over the past 2 years, I can't fix this problem on my desktop. I know I have a lot to learn. Just received a reply from someone on the Java site who was really condescending, so please be kinder than him if you reply to this. Anway, I was trying to view the Rock Star Supernova site. It came up for me a few weeks ago with no problem. I've dowloaded Adobe Flash 9, but they say I must not have my "javascript enabled". I'm confused because I have Java JRE and I don't see anything about javascript anywhere. The nasty Java guy said, if it was there it would appear in my program list on my control panel - otherwise, I should go download it because it won't work if it's not there. Duh. Great advice, huh? Got any ideas for me? I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but the only thing I've dowloaded in the past couple weeks was from the MGs site - Reg Scrub. Haven't done anything else different since the time the Supernova site worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Greetings and Welcome to Majorgeeks. Someone here should be able to help ye.

On the part of the JRE, did you install the latest version?

    JRE 5 update 8?

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4648

What browser are ye using? IE, FF, opera?
What OS are ye using? 98, 2k, xp, etc?

Can you type in START, then RUN, then type in javacpl.cpl (press enter)?

This should bring up the Java control panel. Once there, click on the tab "advanced". Then click the + next to "Default Java for Browsers". Make sure the check boxes are selected for the browser in question. Then press OK.

I'd also, uninstall all previous version of JAVA. Then re-install the latest one.

Hi again! Ya know, I'm always telling people that this is the coolest site on the web to find anything you need. You two just proved me right again! Thanks so much for responding so quickly. Ok, I have IE, xp (as in WindowsXP, right?). Yes, I have JRE update 8. I will try your suggestion about the default java for browers and write again to let you know if it worked. Had thought about totally removing present java and reloading, so thanks for supporting my thoughts on that one. I was afraid to do it, but trust you guys, so here we gooooooo. Will write back later today. tytytyty (cyber hug!!!!!)

OK, I'm back. Tried your suggestion re: "Default Java for Browsers". It's not on the java cp on my puter. Under the "advanced" tab, the following appears: Settings: +Debugging; +Java consol (with show console, don't show, do not start console); +<APPLET> tag support; +Shortcut creation; +JNLP File/MIME Association (what the heck is this anyway?); +Security; and +Miscellaneous. So, I tried Network Setting which has Use browser setting; Use proxy server; bypass proxy server for local addresses; use auto proxy config script; and direct connection. One of the things I read said that javascript is not really a Java product, but an MS product. So before I start removing and reloading Java, I wanted to hear what (someone who obviously knows more about puters than me LOL) has to say about this. Thanks again. Hope someone writes soon.
