   I noticed in my add-ons I have a program called "Java Plug-In SSV Helper 32 Bit". Can any tell me what it is for and do I need it? Checked Google and got more confused by different opinions. I looked in my program folder and have "Java 8 Update". T.I.A.

   I uninstalled Java from the one computer it was on and nothing so far has complained that it needed Java.
   First disable the plugin from the browser and see if any sites do not work properly or complain.

   Do you administer a network? (I'm not talking about a network in your home). If not, then disable it.
