Java Update a Virus?

I have been on e-bay a bit today and keep getting a message to update the JAVA that I am running. Once it pops up..... I can't do anything on the page except for click on the box. My computer tries to download this but recognizes it as a virus and terminates the download.

How can I get this JAVA virus from popping up everytime I am online? As far as I know I haven't downloaded it yet.

I have a Vostro 3700 laptop that is currently running windows 7.

 

The browswer is google chrome.

At this point I don't think I am affected, but how do I stop it from popping up on my internet page and trying to download onto my computer?

They say that it is a JAVA critical update and that I can't continue without downloading it, but computer antivirus is saying that it is a virus and won't download it.

 

I reset the google chrome browser and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks for your help.
