    Hello,
I am in desperate need of help. My on-line baking uses Java so I can upload my checks for deposit, and now I need to download the latest version of Java. Every time I try download the update I get and error code 1503. I have tried several ways to get the update to download but so far nothing has worked. I am running Windows 7, and I am current with all Window updates. I have a Dell computer with a AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core Processor 2.30 GHz, Installed Memory 4.00 GB, and a 64-bit operating system.
Do you have any ideas that I can try.

Thanks for the help, but to no avail. I followed your instructions to the letter and I still get the error code 1603. I then removed google chrome, and that didn't help, then I removed anything relating to Java from from the registery (using regedit) that didn't help either. Are there any other ideas that I can try.

    Thanks for your help.

The 1503 mentioned in your first post is a Windows error. It isn't a Java error because I did some time searching.

Now in post#3 you said error 1603; is that a typo or are you getting a different error?

Error 1503 is a Windows file system error. Right-click the C: drive, click Properties, click Tools. By default, the first box will be checked. Click Start and restart the PC.

Thanks again for the tip. I have attached a copy of the sfc /scannow repair log. Since I don't have another computer how would I go about finding a known good copy of the system file from another computer that is running the same version of Windows with your computer.

Could you please help me with this?

    Regards,

    1. You still have not answered if the error is 1503 or 1603.
    2. The last line of sfc dated May 1st show all files repaired.
    3. Have you tried installing Java now that the windows files are repaired?

I finished running my Windows 7 system disk windows repair feature and everything looked good according to the repair message. I just tried installing Java and I am still getting the 1603 error message. Other than a clean reinstall, do you have nay other suggestions?

    Thanks for your help,

So Java doesn't have an answer.
Now if they say it is a known issue with 2918614, I'd probably uninstall that update from August 2014. Then I'd try and install Java again and either way, after rebooting, I'd install update 2918614 again.

*** I'd also be complaining to the higher ups at the bank complaining that their site still requires Java. Not all banks do because as I said, I haven't had Java on any computer for several years. Outdated Java was a major vector for malware getting into a computer. Since it needs to be kept up to date, Adobe should be helping people get the updates installed instead of saying "under investigation".

Thanks for your help and all of your suggestions. I did find an suggestion online and that was to download V7 and when I did that, the down load went perfectly fine and then when I check to see what Version I had, low and behold, I ended up with V8.25. Everything works fine now. "Who would have THHUNK."
Thanks again, All of you guys are Great and I appreciate the website.

BTW, can you open Command Prompt?
As per your sfcdetails.txt... "cmd.exe" file is missing; source file in store is also corrupted.

You're not suppose to do anyhting. I merely asked because as per your sfcdetails.txt cmd.exe is missing and the source file is corrupted.

If everything is fine now, leave it.

Thanks, I don't know anyone that is friendly enough to ask to use their computer to copy the files that are missing. Do you have any other suggestions.

I'm running Windows 7 32-bit, therefore I can't help you. Hopefully someone who's running Windows 7 64-bit can zip and send you the file(s) you need.

What I have is the Windows Professional installation disk. But I don't want to have to do a clean reinstall. I found someone at work that have Windows Home Edition and said he is willing to let me copy files if they will work. What do you think, will the files from Windows 7 Home Edition work? And how do I find the files on his machine?

If everything is fine and you can open Command Prompt, what do you want to repair?

If you repair Windows 7, you need the same version on DVD as you have installed on your PC. Here is a link to detailed instructions. Follow them word for word. You wont loose your programs or files, but it's always recommended to backup your files before a repair.
