Having problems again! I have done so many things I have no clue where to start.

-Ive also received, recently, "error loading c:\windows\egacutic.dll or was that egacufic

-I tend to get "diagnose connection problems" when navigating to pages, but refresh then brings up the proper page.

-I am unable to view microsoft updates

-Ive been to the registry, a few times, Ive deleted Java, not there, but 6u11 is still in the add/remove programs list without a remove option (it was there, now its not)

-when i try the update of 6u21, I get an error message at the beginning of installation, "older version of java 6 u 21 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."

-Downloaded the Windows Redist. 4.5 (3.1 was no longer an option after I downloaded it last time) I think it worked.

-Cleanup utility, installed, tried java again, same 1714 error message
-followed your link to windows installer and it takes me to "adservices10....." webpage with a captcha on it, when i fill out the captcha i get an "account suspended" message.

-and these I have received...I dont know when..I believe when I was able to install one of the javas...
    -folder containing the installation package
jre1.6.0_11-c.msi (and I had to choose a different file path)
-error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid

-not sure if this is a virus, if I need to do read and run me
    Please Help!!

Many, many things; let's start with two

    - Microsoft Updates: when you go to http://www.update.microsoft.com/ - does it give you an option to view your update history? Or what do you get here?

    - Java RTE: download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html and install it. Run it (Start | Programs | Windows Install Clean Up), select 'Java 6 Update 11' and click on the 'Remove' button.

I will let a malware expert give you instructions how to proceed. What antivirus / antispyware software do you have installed?

    Good Afternoon!

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

If I try following your link to Updates.micro.., if takes me to "IE cannont display page" and posts the diagnose connection problem button. Refresh does no good.
-However, if I nav to microsoft.com, then go to updates. It tells me they cannot display the page, all of my options in the lefthand pane are greyed out except for "FAQ", "get help and support", and "Use administrator options". and provides a link for "Microsoft Online Assisted Support" [Error number: 0x80072EFF]

    Installer Cleanup
-I selected the java and zoosk messenger(yeah I know) and tried to remove both. Received no successful message, but both were gone. Received error message
    "Run-Time error '-2147024882 (8007000e)'"
(same window) "system error &H80004005 (-2147467259) unspecified error"

I am running XP Pro, SP3, using windows' firewall, with Symantec Endpoint

    thanks again!

p.s. I went to the java site and installed 6u21 successfully. I may have skipped a step, but I NEED java to work on a wedding cd for my family.

Since this is NOT a legitimate dll and most malware hides itself by generating random 8 letters, I think you are infected with malware.

Before you go any further, you need to get your computer clean.

    Start here:
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

When you have downloaded and run the MGTools, start a new thread here
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35
by clicking on the new thread button. Attach your logs, do not paste them into the post.
It might take from 2 to 4 days for someone to read over all your logs and tell you exactly what needs cleaning.
If you can not get every tool to run, do what you can and explain what happened if there was a problem.

    Hi

Needed to attach your logs to a new thread in our Malware forum HERE and you have one set of logs missing also in the MGTools logs, need to start as plodr mentioned a new thread in the malware forum so our malware experts can review your logs and issue you some removal instructions. They are very good and are at present getting to threads very quickly (may not last though with summer holidays upon us at present).

    Hi

I have moved your posts to a new thread in our malware forum here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=220488 Please continue on in there.

One of our malware experts will post after they have looked at them. It can take a day or two for your thread to come up in the queue so please be patient and do not post in it again (otherwise, it will be bumped back in their queue).

    Good luck.:)

thank you very much LauraR! And Not sure if I should post this there or here, but I returned to the Microsoft update page, and it now works. NOt sure if I am getting ahead of myself or not, but I am going to go ahead and install some updates.
