    Hi,

My name is Jenny and my computer keeps doing two things. One pop ups advertising anything and everything come up in the middle of my screen. Secondly it randomly opens up new Mozilla Firefox browser windows to advertise something in a new window/tab and at the same time makes the browser windows slightly smaller than maximised.

I've attached the HiJack This Log. If anyone can tell me what I should remove to rid my computer of malware that would be great. I've read the instructions re posting logs and hope I've followed correctly. I've had this problem for months and have held back on posting it here, this is my last resort I guess.

    Thanks so much
    Jenny

    Welcome to Majorgeeks Jenny!

You need to run our standard cleaning steps and also get HijackThis installed correctly. This is all covered below. But first, you need to run a special procedure to remove a Look2Me infection that you have.

    Look2Me VX2 Removal

After running the above, attach the requested log and then continue onto the below steps so we can be sure to get you completely cleaned up.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis
    .

Please help with my HiJackThis/Active Scan Logs...

    Hi,

I have carefully followed the procedures for malware removal that are found in the sticky threads on this forum.

The Bitdefender report I ran had no "Detected Problems tab".

However I have conducted everything else, and have attached :

    1) Look2Me log
    2) ActiveScan log
3 HiJack This log (correctly installed and run).

If anyone can give me advice on how to rid my computer of the remaining unnecessary malware that would be great.

    Many thanks, Jenny

Re: Please help with my HiJackThis/Active Scan Logs...

Please do not begin new threads each time you post. Once you start a thread for a particular problem, you must remain in that thread until it is completed. I'll merge you back to your first thread.

Why did you install CounterSpy like that into a folder named Spyware? You should install programs into their default folders. The way you installed it, makes it look like malware pretending to be CounterSpy. Is it the free trial version from the READ ME? Why didn't you use Windows Defender?

Are you still having any malware problems?
