I restored a optiplex gx260 , an 03' model .
The default multimedia audio controller is realtec ac97 , this one does not work.
Can someone please direct me to one that will work.
I accidently deleted the one I was clued in on that worked . (Stupid )
It's son sound or sound max something like that.
But as we all know , if i don't get the correct legit sound driver ,i will end up
with a bunch of unwanted and harmful software crammed down this old
dinosaur optiplex gx260.
Please help me with installing a compatible sound driver .

You can also click on "Enter Service Tag" link at that page and enter your dell service tag in order to get the specific components which originally came with your particular Optiplex gx260.

I'm so sorry but no Dell does not provide a solution .
This i know because before i met someone who who knew and told me of a sound driver that would work and it did . I simply down loaded it and was fine.
Not a dell product . And I know it should of been but this was an embarisment
to dell so it was dismissed and time has swepet it under the rug of time. so if anyone can help me and i know somebody knows cuz it's all over the net.
Help Please !!! I can't listen to Jimi hendrix and do my school work with out sound on my old dell dinosaur . He he he !

via manufacturer it has worked for me on many occasions, sometimes drivers found in very out of the way places..
