what else can go wrong??? first the airliner thin that turbo prop twin engine plane now a small jet owned by nikey (sp?) . when will people learn. i think if you own a small plane with fold up gear you should jack it up once a month and run gear tests. it may cost alittle more but atless you can find a problem before it happens in the air.

Just cycling the gear on jacks once a month doesn't prove anything. Proper maintenance involves checking all the bearings for wear, inspecting all the links and supports for cracks, corrosion and wear, checking all the actuators for proper pressures and leaky seals (internal leaks; not just dripping externally), checking the hydraulic pumps electric motors etc., and on and on. Not something an owner can do. And ocassionally, something will fail even with proper maintenance.

Proper maintenance is expensive, and small owners usually begrudge the costs, as do the large carriers. As more of the large carriers are downsizing/doing away with their own maintenance departments and having independent companies do it, expect to see more problems.

Yeah...I just heard that this jet doesn't have the ability to dump fuel so they are trying to burn it up before they try to land!!

I would think the fuel dump thing would be a safety demand from the FAA, on ALL planes/jets!!
