JIT Debugger and Popup tabs

    Hi guys -

A couple days ago I starting getting persistent popups from Just-In-Time debugging (I don't program, so I've never done any debugging) and the occasional "popup" tab going to some random malware-related site. In addition, my computer won't shut down and locks up when I give the command to shut down. I've had to do hard reboots since this started. Aside from the occasional popup tab, my browsers seem to work fine if I simply send the debugger window to the background.

I read the prep directions and was able to run all the software, but only with my computer offline. Runing the programs while online caused crashes.

After running all the software suggested and getting back online, The JIT Debugger window continues to appear and now I'm getting redirects every time I google anything.

FWIW, I got no JIT debugger window when I was offline. I'm submitting this from a separate computer.

    I've attached my logs. Help!

Hi there and welcome. I am currently reviewing your logs and will get back to you with a set of instructions in the next post I make to you.

You can delete all these temp files from your desktop:

Update MalwareBytes by locating the update tab within the program, rescan, fix anything it may find and attach the log.

If you did not deliberately set this proxy yourself then please include it in the HJT fix below:

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    File::
    c:\documents and settings\NetworkService\Application Data\del.bat
    c:\documents and settings\Administrator\Application Data\asdsada.bat
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\234.js
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\235.js

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Please also download MBRCheck to your desktop

    • Double click MBRCheck.exe to run (vista and Win 7 right click and select Run as Administrator)
    • It will show a Black screen with some data on it
    • Right click on the screen and select > Select All
    • Press Control+C
    • Open a notepad and press Control+V
    • now please ATTACH that report to this thread

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know how things are running at this point.

Thank you for your help! I ran the programs as you instructed, and I'm still getting the Debugger popup. I'm attaching the logs as requested.

Those logs look good now. So just to be clear, you are no longer being redirected?

You will have to ask about the JIT Debugger in the software forum.

Thanks again for your help! Unfortunately, I'm still having an issue. Aside from the debugger window popping up, I'm also getting occasional (infrequent) popup tabs that open to random sites. I'm not getting redirected - search engines seem to be functioning normally - I'm just getting a popup every hour or two.

It's not that bad, but it tells me that there's still something going on. Any ideas on what to do next?

And this is happening with Mozilla Firefox?

Have you tried using adblocker plus?

I want you to run TDSSKiller again and attach the log.
