"What makes people want to run into the icy waters of Lake Huron in December? There's a pretty good start.

The plunge, which is in its seventh year, usually draws between 100 and 110 participants, bringing in an average of $12,000 for the Kiwanis to distribute to local agencies, plunge chairwoman Michelle Shepley said.

Saturday's plunge, however, drew about 250 plungers, bolstering expectations, even as Michigan -- and St. Clair County in particular -- struggles through grim economic times.

"You know how they say, 'Why do people live in Michigan if it's always so tough?'" Shepley asked. "This is why. Everyone's willing to give. Really, it's heartwarming." "
It doesn't sound like much money is raised unless you are one of the lass fortunate ones on the receiving end then it is a god send.
I thank every one involved for their consideration for others.

 

It used to be a some what small group (Polar Bear Club) of people with a well amount of body fat to withstand the cold.
Now they're just crazy :-D
