Just a few questions

I need to know the following:

What is the best FREE anti-virus program to use?

What is the best FREE PC Security program (this might fall in the same category as the above)?

Is it wise to have two anti-virus programs installed (McAfee Security Center came installed on mine already, but I'm not sure about it being any good)?

Finally, is McAfee Security Center/Anti-Virus any good? (I'm a newbie at this sort of stuff)

My personal choices are AviraAntiVir( AV ), Comodo Firewall, SuperAntiSpyware, MalwareBytes, SpywareBlaster, and WinPatrol.
Only 1 antivirus at a time should be installed, but multiple antispyware is OK.

 

The latest edition of AVG, v9, has greatly reduced scanning times after the initial scan and is lighter on resources than most of the competition. It has AV and AS, and also a link scanner which tells you whether search results are safe to visit or not. As already said, be sure to fully remove any other AV before installing a new one.

If you are behind a router which has a hardware firewall you are actually safe not using a software firewall at all, but if you aren't comfortable with that then you can use the Windows firewall.

I also scan with MalwareBytes periodically, and keep Spywareblaster up to date.
